Hi! I’m Erika (she/her).
A lover of the outdoors and lifelong artist. Particularly interested in photography, jewelry, and poetry. Fascinated by how we experience art and connect through it.
I aim to create emotional and memorable experiences with art. My artistic style is approachable, fluid, sensitive, and inspired by the natural world.
Photography is a joy. From my first camera (an underwater disposable camera - my friends and I took photos in pools and Lake Tahoe) to the digital and film cameras I use today. Drawn to soft light and jewel tones, and using foreground and background creatively to dynamically capture products, places, and people. Since 2016, I’ve produced work for/with: Trinchero Family Estates, Kashi Foods, Alloy Wine Works, Glyder Apparel, FITS Socks, Marine Layer, and more.
I fell in love with jewelry making in 2021 when I took my first metal work class. I find the act of shaping small pieces of metal from sheet and wire to be equal parts delicate and powerful. Working with metal, stone, wax, fire, and water like magic, bringing something imagined into physical existence from the elements of nature with a little help from chemistry.
Poetry is a deeply personal practice exploring my inner world. Healing and growing through imagery, metaphor, and juxtaposition.
A few ways I stay centered - swimming, hiking in the Cascades, traveling, cooking, whisking matcha, soaking in a hot tub in the forest, walking around Seattle, making music, practicing yoga, eating fresh fruit.
The performing arts hold a special place in my heart, having grown up surrounded by it - from acting and musical theatre to music composition and playing oboe in the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. Oboe took me to some truly incredible concert halls including Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie.
Grateful to identify with many beautiful places as home: Taiwan where I have heritage, California where I grew up, Seattle where I chose to live and am now based with my husband Eric and our cat Magic. We are on the traditional land of the Duwamish, Suquamish, Muckleshoot, and Coast Salish people (Native Land Digital).
Have a creative project in mind? I’d love to hear from you.
